David has been teaching sea kayaking for 8 years and has never looked back. He is a Paddle Canada level 4 paddler, level 3 Instructor and a Flatwater Instructor Trainer. David developed our website, Undercurrents.ca, and has been a long-time friend of Undercurrents.

In 1996 David graduated from the Outdoor Recreation Technician program from Seneca College. Since then he worked as the instructor services coordinator for Paddle Canada and sat on the Board of Directors of the Ontario Recreational Canoe & Kayak Association. He currently works as a Research Officer for the Ontario Ministry of Research and Innovation.

David is also is the owner of Swim River Designs, a web design company that specializes in building websites for small businesses in the outdoor industry.

In winter of 2006, David started PaddlingInstructor.com, the largest resource website specifically for paddling instructors. PaddlingInstructor.com is modelled after the "Open Source" software concept where instructors are encouraged to freely share their teaching resources for other instructors to make use of. PaddlingInstructor.com has been a huge success with over 350 instructors from around the world participating.
