Apparently judging was very difficult as there were countless great submissions and fantastic inventions of all kinds. The Eco technology Split Board won the overall award because it combined a dedication to creating a board which put performance on an equal footing with the environment, with its simple and functional solution to airline travel.

"This is a fantastic step forward for everyone everywhere trying to make more ecological products, and a personal satisfaction that we, this tiny Canadian company, have been able to make our mark on the international stage," said Imagine Surfboards founder Corran Addison.
