Get your Paddle Canada award graphic.If you are an existing Paddle Canada or CKC kayak instructor, this is your opportunity to learn to teach others the wonders of rolling! The Paddle Canada Kayak Rolling Instructor course is the only Canadian certification standard.

Through pre-course work, classroom sessions and in-water time we will unravel the art of teaching kayak rolling! We introduce safe body mechanics, a variety of teaching aids including video feedback, various rolling techniques: their strengths & benefits, detecting and correcting common challenges with rolls, and providing meaningful feedback to students.

Expected Outcome:

Upon successful completion of this course, candidates will be able to instruct within the Paddle Canada Kayak Rolling program with confidence, assisting participants develop a consistent roll. You will receive a Paddle Canada Kayak Rolling Instructor certificate.

Instructor Student Ratio:

1:6 (MAX) to ensure you of the best instructional experience possible!

Notes:

Candidates need to register with Paddle Canada before the first day of class – Paddle Canada will charge you either $10 or $90, depending on your current membership level.

Paddlers at this level usually own their own gear. (You need a sea kayak with sealed compartments at each end, or a whitewater kayak with stern airbags.) If needed, kayaks and related gear are available for rent during this course.

Prerequisites:

At least 16 years of age.

Paddle Canada Basic Kayak Instructor certification, or CKC Instructor 1 – Lake, or higher.

The ability to roll confidently in a variety of conditions. The ability to roll on either side is strongly recommended.

Current certification in first aid (14 hours) with CPR.
